The 2025 Hyundai Staria has undergone minor changes, losing one of its safety features but gaining a handful of small tech upgrades.

It’s in showrooms now.

The Staria now goes without an active blind-spot assist system to prevent drivers from moving into an occupied lane, reverting to a more basic warning system.

Despite this omission, prices are unchanged, with petrol V6 examples starting from $49,500 before on-road costs while the turbo-diesel four-cylinder is priced from $52,500 before on-road costs.

Base Staria variants now have USB-C ports throughout (replacing the older USB-A outlets) and new-look badges, while the Elite and Highlander grades have been equipped with rain-sensing wipers and Hyundai’s Bluelink connected services.

There’s still no sign of the Hyundai Staria hybrid sold in Korea, despite this drivetrain now featuring in its Kia Carnival twin-under-the-skin.

The Kia Carnival continues to comfortably outsell the Staria in Australia. In the first five months of 2024, Kia sold 3279 Carnivals while Hyundai sold 511 Starias.

The Hyundai Staria received a five-star ANCAP safety, based on testing conducted in 2021.

It received scores of 85 per cent for adult occupant protection, 65 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 74 per cent for safety assist.

In addition to seven airbags – front, front-side, front-centre plus curtain bags on the A and B pillars – the following active safety features are standard:

  • Autonomous emergency braking with multi-collision brake
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Driver attention monitoring
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Lane Following Assist (lane centring)
  • Rear cross-traffic assist

The Elite adds safe exit assist and a 3D view for the surround-view camera, while Highlanders gain Hyundai’s Blind-Spot View Monitor that displays camera footage of the vehicle’s blind spot in the instrument cluster.

New to the top two variants is Hyundai’s Bluelink connectivity, which includes automatic collision notification, an emergency call (SOS) function, and alert services including geo-fencing, valet, speed and time alerts.
