Mercedes-Benz is recalling more than 1400 examples of its EQE and EQS electric vehicles (EVs) as they could lose power while driving.

“A software issue in the Battery Management System (BMS) may cause deactivation of the high voltage battery,” the company says in its recall notice.

“As a result, the vehicle may experience a loss of propulsion whilst driving.

“A loss of propulsion whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

  • A total of 1465 EQE and EQS models are affected from 2023
  • The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.

If you have any further questions, you can contact the company’s customer assistance centre on 1300 762 718.
